Book Update! First Draft Done 🎉
A first (but far from last) opportunity to get involved
Hi Readers!
Big news: I just finished the first full manuscript of my book, Sometimes You Should Be Late: The Quiet Rebellion of Slowing Down in a World Obsessed with Speed, coming July 7, 2026!
It began as my Psychology Today article and has grown into a deeper exploration of how we move through time, with ourselves and with each other. In a world that moves too fast and often forgets about this thing called kindness, this book offers a gentler, slower way.

I need your help. As a first-time author who isn’t big into social media (and to be honest, is awful at it & jealous of people with big followings), this book will only reach a wide audience if people like you help share the ideas with your friends, families, workplaces and schools.
In this new, creative phase of my life, asking for people to be my cheerleaders feels a bit icky, self-promotional, transactional. Yet I know I need to do it. And also…I suspect that if you’re part of this community, you not only want me to succeed but also for the ideas I channel about slower, more intentional and connecting ways of living to spread.
There will be many ways to help, and I hope they land well as in invitation. For now I’m inviting my Substack subscribers to read and provide feedback on a community comment v1.0.
This is a book about moving through time more intentionally. Consider this a first invitation to do just that: Do you have the space in your life for this? Are you interested in a messy/unclear version, or would you prefer to wait to read the polished version?
An honest share: I suspect I’ll have plenty of interest in this, so you’re not letting me down if you don’t help now, you’re honoring yourself. And if it’s a full body yes, I’d love to have you read and provide feedback!
If you’re interested, fill out this form by tomorrow Nov 6!
With gratitude!
